Notes: The Beatles filmed their second live appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show" at 8pm on the night of February 9, 1964 in front of a live audience.
This was broadcast live to approximately 70 Million viewers across America. This appearance was the first to be broadcast.
Ed Sullivan`s other guests were the New York cast of Lionel Bart's London musical "Oliver",
starring Georgia Brown and, as the Artful Dodger, Davy Jones, future member of the Monkees, Frank Gorshin & Tessie O`Shea.
The Beatles performed five songs throughout the show (3 in the first half and 2 at the end of the show):
"All My Loving"; "Till There Was You"; "She Loves You"; "I Saw Her Standing There" & "I Want To Hold Your Hand".
This famous edition of "The Ed Sullivan Show" was repeated on July 12, 1964, while highlights from their performances were used in "The Ed Sullivan Show: The Swinging Soulful Sixties",
a compile TV special of musical moments from shows throughout the decade which was broadcast on December 21, 1969.
The original complete appearance was issued on DVD in 2003.
