Auction Note: This is a previously unpublished colour 8mm home movie film of The Beatles at the ABC Theatre in Blackpool, UK.
The film was shot by fellow performer Chas McDevitt on 25th August, 1963 and is approx 4 minutes in length.
The whole of the footage has emerged on bootleg DVD in reasonable quality.
Apart from footage of them performing on stage there is also 2 minutes of footage of them backstage clowing around with their fellow performers including The Shadows.
Whether this backstage footage was taken before or after their concert is unknown but as it appears first on the feel it is assumed it was before their performance.
Sadly the footage is rather dark as for some reason there was not much lighting in the dressing rooms. Footage includes:
The Beatles backstage in a dressing room with Hank Marvin, Bruce Welch, Shirley Douglas and Chas McDevitt;
John and George reading letters out to each other and talking;
Close-ups of John Lennon, wearing glasses and smiling into the camera, dancing around and messing up his hair;
John and Hank Marvin trying on each other`s glasses and chatting with Bruce Welch and others.
