Notes: This was a unfinished film project starring Ringo and Harry Nilsson called "Harry and Ringo`s Night Out".
It was filmed in Los Angeles during March and April 1974. In the end only a 3 minute pilot was made and nothing more was filmed.
Tim Bruckner, who had painted the front cover for the "Ringo" album, was asked to write a script. He also drew the characters and all the backgrounds for the animation sequences which took a couple of weeks to do.
According to Tim, the story basically involves Ringo and Harry being sucked into an alternate reality in a place called Rockland, populated by a bunch of famous rock stars.
Music is dying and these two were on a mission to save it. When they entered Rockland they acquired sidekicks. Ringo`s was the cherub and Harry's was a wisecracking crow.
Harry did the voice of the cherub and Ringo did the voice of the crow.
The live action sequence was filmed in just one day on a soundstage at Paramount Studios complete with bluescreen for the animation sequences.
Reportedly the "pilot" was actually premiered in June at a theatre in Beverley Hills.
Brief excerpts from the "pilot" (in beautiful colour) were used in the 2010 Harry Nilsson documentary "Who is Harry Nilsson? (And Why is Everybody Talkin` About Him?""
